Our Core Values
Over the last few years, there has been great concern expressed many of our neighbors regarding over-development, traffic congestion, and the loss of quality of life that traditionally attracted residents to the North Fork. In short, they’re concerned about the Hamptification of our unique community.
We believe that North Fork residents have a right to know what is happening in their city government, and be heard about issues of importance in our town. Meetings should be held at appropriate times to encourage participation, not stifle it.
Instead of tending to the basics, town government has grown into a bloated conglomerate of political services that gets larger every year — with no end in sight. We must protect our community from runaway government that hastens the Hamptification of the North Fork.
Town supervisors talk a good game, but their record shows otherwise. Residents have a right to know how our money is being spent. Tax dollars in trust accounts should only be spent for the intended purpose for which it was collected, not used as a slush fund for insiders and special interests.
Government works for us, not the other way around. Stronger Southold will to offer a meaningful platform for the residents of the North Fork community to have their voices heard by promoting responsible and responsive government and encouraging the foundation of responsible and sustainable growth for the future of our great town.
